Bridge Joints
Durable, easy-to-install range of bridge joints
A hollow grip in the extruded aluminium sections is specifically designed to accept a durable ND or NF gland.
The continuous gland provides a barrier that facilitates the protection of the bridge bearings against the damaging effects of rainwater and petro-chemical run off. Easy insertion, placement and removal of the gland are added features.

BJ1 - Bolted In Bridge Expansion Joint

The system features sturdy aluminium retainers that are extruded from high strength, corrosion resistant aluminium alloy 6061-T6. Option to have either a Neoprene drape gland or a Neoprene flush gland (as shown below) which are NATA Tested. Stainless Steel fixings are used for long term durability and to prevent corrosion. Bridge Joints are bedded with a waterproof epoxy mortar (Miska FC122) that has excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. The Neoprene Gland is installed with a two pack epoxy adhesive (Miska FC480) which provides a waterproof bond to the neoprene surface. A flexible rubberised epoxy (Miska FC446) is installed in the Bolt Cavity to level the expansion joint after installation. A minimum block-out size of 123 mm x 55 mm is required on either side of joint gap.

BJ6 - Cast In Bridge Expansion Joint
BJ6 - Cast In Bridge Expansion Joint

The Miska BJ6 is designed for expansion joints in bridges which carry public road traffic. The system features sturdy aluminium retainers extruded from high strength, corrosion resistant aluminium alloy 6061-T6. A smooth, bump free ride over the joint is achieved by the flat wearing surface of the expansion joint. The system is designed to be cast in to the bridge deck, during initial construction, which results in a significant reduction in the installation costs and down time that can be associated with other types of bridge joints. A hollow grip in the extruded aluminium section is designed to accept a continuous durable gland that is designed to prevent dirt, stones and debris from binding the joint. The gland provides a barrier that facilitates the protection of the bridge bearings against the damaging effects of rainwater and petro-chemical run-off. Easy insertion, placement and removal of the gland are added features.

ZealSeal System
ZealSeal System

Miska ZealSeal System is a resilient, UV stable, preformed, flexible expansion joint material that is installed with Zealcrete nosing. ZealSeal is a low-density, closed cell, expanded polyethylene that accommodates skews, steps, curbs, joints around columns, and other irregular conditions and has a working range of 60% compression and 30% tension. The Zealcrete nosing is a 100% solid two component, elastomeric concrete which is fast setting and easy to use.

Zealcrete
Zealcrete

ZealcreteTM is a 100% solid two component, elastomeric concrete which is fast setting and easy to use. It is suitable for new and rehabilitation projects. It can be used with or without armour in high impact, high stress nosing areas where a non-shrink, energy absorbing, flexible, waterproof end dam with outstanding wear resistance is required. ZealcreteTM formulation results in properties which prevents cracking and moisture intrusion and provides protection and life extension to structures where high impact and chemical intrusion by road salts and petroleum based by-products may threaten.

Compression Seal
Compression Seal

Elastomeric neoprene seals have over thirty years of proven durability to effectively waterstop expansion and contraction joints. Three series of seal configuration offer a range of joint movement up to 72mm. Each seal offers nearly double the movement capability of conventional gun-in sealants with advantage of a smaller joint width design. 'N' series seals are recommended for small movement and construction joints and installed 3 to 6mm below the surface. 'NH' series seals are designed for heavy traffic / load situations and installed 3 to 6mm below the surface. Steel or epoxy nosings are required to protect nosing. 'NC' series seals are low profile concourse seals where pedestrian traffic is expected and placed flush with the surface. Their design is such that a safe and even surface is presented eliminating ladies heel entrapment. Miska FC480 Lubricant Adhesive is recommended for seal installation to allow ease of insertion, fill minor voids in the joint surfaces and provide a bond to the neoprene. Apply a continuous coat of FC480 to both joint interfaces immediately prior to seal installation.
